INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP RECOGNIZED

By Briget Heidmous

On Monday, April 22, 2024. In Downtown DC’s Golden Triangle, Mayor Muriel Bowser was introduced by Femme Fatale DC’s CEO and Owner, Cee Smith.

During remarks, Mayor Bowser honored Femme Fatale DC – calling the business a leader and a first of its kind.

The press conference was hosted by the Executive Office of the Mayor and The Department of Buildings to introduce Pop-Up Permits (PUPS), a program to fast-track occupancy permissions for business owners and activators in DC. The program is one part of an investment strategy referred to as “DC’s come back” – after years of shut-down and uncertainty for the creative economy due to COVID-19.

The gathering served as a unique platform for The Team at Femme Fatale DC and a diverse group of entrepreneurs. These representatives, the embodiment of our community of doers, makers, and business owners, stood together, showcasing the strength and capability of our vibrant community.

It proved what we often say: “From experience, we (Femme Fatale DC) know that we move faster and farther together – prioritizing working together over competing separately”

Femme Fatale DC thought leaders and Entrepreneur Members (in alphabetical order) Adriana Mendoza, Briget Heidmous, Flip Flop Caravan, Great Hill Studio, Khadija Jahmila Fine Art, Neteru Apothecary, and  Thrift + Prosper showed out at the event to tell stories of growth and achievement for small business within Femme Fatale DC organically incubative programs.

We met so many great folx from Anacostia Bid, Art to GOGO, Golden Triangle Bid, and World Pride DC (2025).

We asked our community to share their perspectives from the day. Step into the mix.

Day of support from OT and Cyn.
