GET PUBLISHED: 5 PLACES TO SUBMIT VISUAL ART THIS SUMMER

By Briget Heidmous

Put yourself out there in 2023. Now is the time to put your work in front of review panels.

Maybe you have had the goal of publishing your artwork in magazines and publications that cater to niche interest groups for some time. Or maybe you are feeling inspired by this list. It doesn’t matter - you can submit the work you have today! Getting published can be a fun part of creating buzz for your art and retail business.

Submission Tips:

  1. Use high-quality images and be sure to follow all guidelines

  2. Ensure you offer work that meets a publisher's potential “first right to publish” stipulations. Backtracking a submission because it is published elsewhere — it’s a bad look. If the work you’re submitting is on your website or Instagram, it is usually okay to submit. Double-check if the publisher makes a specific note about publishing on self-directed platforms.

  3. Keep the writing short and sweet: Bio under 100 words and Artist Statements under 150 words.
